Ceridian Payroll and Human Resources is a great product for companies who need to move from an entry level package to a more robust, sophisticated package which combines payroll and human resources information in a single database.  Ceridian's real strength is its human resources content, which includes features like determining the tax jurisdictions for employees based on their home address and work site address.  The application supports a maximum of 300 employees, and requires Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.5 or higher (sorry, Mac and Linux users).  Other key features include:

  • There is a report writer for generating custom reports.
  • Supports spreadsheet importing of employees and time data.
  • Supports large, complex companies with multiple locations, and can be used to assign expenses to specific jobs (e.g. job costing)
  • Has built-in exports for QuickBooks, Peachtree, Dynamics GP, Dynamics SL, and Sage MAS ERP.  Custom exports have been created for about 30 additional systems.
  • Sophisticated tools for deductions, benefits, including "mass updates" for changes in benefit prices, etc.
  • Multiple time entry options, including web-based grid, import from time & attendance software, file specific custom import, or keying into a provided Excel sheet.
  • Support all some local, state, and federal electronic reporting and available electronic new hire reporting.  Provides printable payroll tax forms for federal and most states.
  • Supports allocation of employee pay expenses to multiple profit centers based on percentages.
  • Can add as many misc. fields as needed (either free-form text or validated numeric information).
  • CPA Program with dashboard to see status of all clients.
  • Supports union payroll calculations.
  • Basic EE Self Serve portal at no extra charge.
  • Does not support drill-down or Certified Payroll Reporting.

Add-ons to the base service include:

  • Full, interactive employee self-serve portal
  • Pay as you go workers compensation insurance
  • Online benefits enrollment portal
  • Employee assistance plans
  • Cafeteria plan administration (IRC 125)
  • COBRA and HIPAA administration
  • Flexible Spending Account (FSA) administration, as well as administration of Healthcare Spending Accounts (HSA) and Dependent Care Spending Accounts.
  • Retirement plans (through Great West/Newport Group)
  • HR Compliance tracking and content management.
  • Custom data reporting to third parties using specified information formats.
  • Recruitment, screening services, and recruitment process outsourcing.

Time Pro and Ceridian HPW

I have a question regarding import from Time Pro into Ceridian HPW. When we bring in time it shows every single pay period including historical ones and allows us to pick any of them. Does your system allow the same? This caused a major error during our PP14 processing in which we brought in 2009 hours in place of 2010. Thank you, Dennis
