A letter, signed by C. E. Andrews, president of RSM McGladrey, said that "This notice should not in any way be construed as unwillingness on our part to continue discussions on developing a way for our two organizations to work together going forward, which continues to be RSM's preference." The notice followed statements during an earnings conference call last week in which H&R Block CEO Russ Smyth said his company, which owns RSM McGladrey, is continuing efforts to maintain a 10-year old agreement under which M&P and Block's RSM McGladrey jointly service clients, Smyth said Block had exchanged proposals with the accounting firm and was addressing its concerns. However, Smyth also noted the company has had talks other audit and attest firms that could replace M&P. | |||
