SmartVault has released a year-end service update that provides email notification via which users can set up the system to automatically receive email notifications when documents are uploaded or downloaded, as well as specify how frequently they want to receive notifications. Also available is full-text search that enables users to search for uploaded files using keywords contained in a Word, Excel, PowerPoint or PDF document.

The system also offers Quick Start Service for use in bulk user upload and folder creation, custom branding, custom training for firm and clients, and one-time data migration. Improvements have been made to make sharing files easier and more intuitive.
