Intuit has a new leader for its Accountant Segment. The company said this week that Rich Preece will take over the position held by VP Jim McGinnis. McGinnnis is becoming VP of product management for the company's ProConnect Group, which handles its professional tax products: Lacerte, ProConnect Tax Online and ProSeries. 

Preece, who has been with the software company since 2002, was most recently VP of Intuit Europe. McGinnis had held the accountant program position since March 2014 and has been with Intuit since October 2010.

The change comes at a time when Intuit is working to have stronger connections between its QuickBooks and professional tax operations. McGinnis' move is the second leadership change involving the ProConnect Group in the last two weeks. When Intuit announced its results fiscal 2016 on August, it said Matt Rhodes, VP of investor relations, would move to the tax unit's Plano, Texas, facility to become CFO there.

As a result of this week's changes, Preece will move to the United States from London, England. McGinnis was already based in the Plano office
