Xero Forcing User Password Change

xeroA recent rash of phishing incidents has caused New Zealand cloud accounting software company Xero to warn users to change passwords. The company says there have not been major problems. But an email this week warns users that if they do not change passwords, they will be required to the next time the login.

 Xero says it has seen an increase in phishing scam, some impersonating the company's branding. The company says "Our monitoring has shown that a small number of our customers have had their Xero accounts compromised. As a precaution we are asking our customers to reset their password.''

Xero provide security advice including urging users to update anti-malware  (anti-sirus) software and to run a full scan of all computers with Xero installed before changing passwords. The company also points users to its Cloud Security Small Business Guide and offers a link to its description of the company's security practices on its security page.
