Why Incorporate an RSS Feed into Your Web Site?

One of the great things about Web site developers that work specifically within the accounting profession is that they provide Web content for you. By incorporating things like tax forms and calculators, they provide your clients with a more dynamic and useful web experience. However, this content is rarely date specific and thus often “out-of-date.” While some Web site providers refresh the content periodically, others do not. For those that don’t, a great way to incorporate fresh and automatically updated content is through RSS feeds.

RSS (really simple syndication) is a Web format that is used to publish frequently updated web feeds. These are typically news sites or blogs, but you can find RSS feeds on almost any subject. This symbol: lets you know a page has an RSS feed. You can typically add them for free and as use as many as you want. Without getting too deep into the technical aspects, an RSS feed can be embedded into your firm’s site by your website provider or IT personnel. All you have to enter is a single line of code and you will have fresh content on your site whenever the feed is refreshed.
