I have a stand alone computer so many of the ATX problems have not occurred. I still experience, lost fixed assets, incorrect printing, long waits for printing lists and data entry. Much time is lost and the slowness of the program is pathetic. Let's bring back the old platform, much better and it worked!! Read more...

Your observation that the worst is behind Taxworks is incorrect. The Redgear FB page is no indicator - we (the users) are too exhausted and frustrated from our experience this tax season with the 2012 product to post on their page. There has been a noted lack of action and compassion from management - they let the techs take all the negative comments and complaints. The software is CRAP (compared to the last 21 years that we've used it) and it isn't getting much better - now we don't seem to be able to file extensions! April 15th can't get here soon enough...this has been a nightmare season, in large part due to Taxworks and their horrible new software! Read more...

I disagree with the quote by the Sacramento CPA that the difficulties are related to getting used to the new platform. ATX software continues to perform poorly. We are on the 12th update and they can only fix "some crashes". Deleted assets causing the return to have to be redone is NOT a "getting used to the platform" issue. Also, since all of my computers are new it is also not due to having outdated technology. Our Windows 7 computers cannot open tax returns that have been rolled over from 2011 ATX. Someone running Windows XP has to stop what they are doing and open the returns, close them and then the Windows 7 users can open the returns. I calculate that I (the IT partner)have lost 3 days of productivity dealing with the software issues this year! Read more...

TaxWorks 2012

This has been the WORST tax season ever and it is entirely due to the software. Losing clients because I can't get anything out the door. I was told on March 21, 2013 that they will not even correct the problem relating to MFS vs MFJ return splits this season. Apparently the extra hours and hours and hours of dealing with software issues isn't enough, now we are expected to spend double and triple the time to perform an analysis for our clients...isn't this why we pay for professional software? Rediculous! Read more...

All CCH does is to promise to fix their "JUNK SOFTWARE". I have all the time in the world to sit here and complain because I am not able to do my work due to faulty software. I think the only way we will get their attention is to file a class action law suit. Hit them where it hurts IN THE POCKETBOOK. Enough is enough!!!! Read more...

CCH Software

Meanwhile, they appear to be getting out of the professional tax software business also. They started this year by killing off ATX, at least as a reliable product. Shares in parent company Wolters Kluwer, perhaps not coincidentally, hit a yearly high Wednesday. For former customers, ATX failure has been a disaster, but tax software is just a small part of CCH and CCH is just a small part of WK. Read more...

We will be going to Drake next year. Would this year as well, but not able to stop and make the switch because we are spending every waking moment on returns. Read more...

I, too, have had many major problems with ATX this year. I've been using this program for about 15 years, always with great success! I was completely taken by surprise by the 2012 Version. It takes from 5-10 minutes to load, when it even loads! I receive surprises almost every time I press the Tab or Enter keys. I have, however, been able to reach Support and they fix the problem, but another another one soon appears! Without some kind of rebate, refund or other compensation, I'll definitely NOT be back for another year of complete chaos! Read more...
