Maryland Blocks 20 Preparers

Peter Franchot, Maryland ComptrollerThe State of Maryland has stopped accepting tax returns from 20 preparers in the last week. That brings the total to 74 who have submitted what the state says is a high volume of suspicious returns.

The state offers a review process for those who wish to have filing privileges re-instated  Under comptroller Peter Franchot, Maryland is active in stopping suspicious filings through its Questionable Return Detection Team. 

Those blocked include six preparers from Baltimore: 1040 Veronica Williams,  DPM Tax & Bookkeeping Services, EPS Tax Solutions LLC,  Kimmy Tax Services, Merit Tax Service,  MK Tax Services and Investment LLC and Assurance Income Tax and Financial Services LLC

Other Maryland preparers blocked are B & G Accounting & Tax, and World Alliance Tax and Financial Services, both of Bowie; Beyond Basic Tax Solutions, Darlington; Taree Fayson, Fort Washington; M & E Tax Service, Glen Burnie; Infinite Business Services, Greenbelt; Domaix Group, Mount Rainier; Njinyi and Associates Business Solutions, Lanham; Lin Tax Service and MPLawson Financial both of  Laurel; Million Tax and Accounting Firm, Takoma Park.

The out-of-state firms involved were Family Affairs Etc., Douglasville, Ga.; Collins Financial Group, Jonesboro, Ga.; and Quick Tax Service, Centreville, Va.
