H&R Block Offers ITIN Renewals

H&R Block is offering free applications for renewals of individual taxpayer identification numbers. The tax preparation services company says nearly a million taxpayers have ITIN numbers which have expired.

Taxpayers who are not eligible to receive Social Security numbers can apply for ITINs to use when filing federal tax returns. Numbers have expired for those who have not used the on tax returns for the last three years—2014, 2015 and 2016.

Block notes that applications can take up to 14 weeks for processing. ITINs needed to file a tax return, due less than 12 weeks from now and if someone is owed a tax refund.
