IRS Expands Security Courses Credits

IRSTax professionals can earn credits for qualifying courses about data security and identity theft topics. The Internal Revenue Service said recently it has expanded its recognition for educaton credits from only courses covering federal tax preparation, federal tax updates, ethics and representation.

Qualifying courses include those about increasing tax professional awareness of protecting client data, including review of Publications 4556 or 4524 safeguards. These can qualify in the federal law category.

The IRS also reminded practitioners of the Don't Take the Bait education series for raise the aware of tax professionals of security issues
