Preparer Guilty of Worker's Comp Fraud

Ohio BureauA tax preparer who earned more than $100,000 while claiming he was permanently disabled has been ordered to pay the state of Ohio $57,000 in restitution.  Fernando Cruz of Maineville, Warren County, Ohio, was found guilty of worker's compensation fraud.

Cruz must pay $2,000 to the Ohio Bureau of Workers' Compensation and then at least $150 a month. Cruz was sentenced to five years of community control. He would serve 11 months in jail if he violates the conditions of control.

The agency found he worked as a tax preparer from at least January 2011 through December 2014 while claiming to be permanently and totally disabled.
