Lacerte to Have Dual Monitor Support

IntuitIntuit is giving its Lacerte tax software native support for dual monitors. Although many accountants have three and four monitors, the professional tax package had not had native support for dual monitors but will have that capability in its 2016 software.

"We have had people requesting this for a long time," product manager Ram Shamana said this week. Without that capability, "Users find it difficult to review their entries while doing tax preparation," he continued.

Other features in Lacerte for 2016 include improved user experience and performance for the Trial Balance utility. A major difference is in mapping of accounts through the SmartMap feature. Shamana said that with the prior version it could up to five mappings before the system learned to autoassign accounts. The system also supported only four account types: asset, liability, revenue and expenses.

Now there is no need to classify account types and the system learns by tapping into the aggregate experience of all Lacerte users. Speed has also improved so that there are now sub-second response times.

Intuit has enhanced In-product Help, introducing point-of-need guidance via on-screen hyperlinks. The "Ask Lacerte" feature has also been enhanced to link to articles while access to in-product chat has been placed on the main toolbar.

Among other features is autofill for amended corporate returns. The feature enables tax professionals to check a box with the software then importing data from the original returns.

Additionally, a personalized installed propagates settings and preferences from the prior year.
