"We have the depth and breadth of products that meet the needs of small firms," says Kerri Gibson, the VP who handles the small professional segment for Wolters Kluwer Tax and Accounting North America. Gibson positioned the products this way: TaxWise is for those preparing mostly individual returns and for the high-volume needs of retail stores. ATX is for those preparers moving to address small firm clients, whose returns have more complexity and are starting to ATX. When firms grow to support more complex clients and add advisory services, they are candidates for ProSystem fx for Small Firms.
The small firm products are all desktop applications. Axcess is the migration path for ProSystem and TaxWise is paired with TaxWise Online. However there is no cloud counterpart for ATX at the time. "ATX will move toward a cloud solution," she says.
Besides offering tax preparation functions, the Small Firm bundle includes fixed assets and tax planning. Also included is the Axcess portal and eSignature. Although there are workflow features in the bundle's components, no separate workflow application is included.
