"We don't see the need to do that at this point," Morken said in a recent interview. But Morken said Intuit monitors trends and could produce a cloud version quickly. "What we can do on line is to vary whether the interface is forms-based or input based," she said.
Lacerte is the engine for the company Intuit Tax Online. Morken said that developing a ProSeries cloud version would be a matter of producing a new interface for the Lacerte database.
Meanwhile, Intuit continues to look for ways to pair taxpayers with professional preparers. "Eighty-nine percent of taxpayers are more successful if they work with a pro," she says. So the company is introducing the ability to work with "an Intuit curated pro".
Intuit will search its database for paid preparers that best match the needs of the taxpayer. When the individual picks a preparer, permission can be granted to the preparer to access records. "It doesn't matter if they use Intuit Tax Online, Lacerte or ProSeries," she said.
