Liberty Tax Service said this week that its system prepared 7.9 percent more tax returns through April 18 than in the same period in 2011. Meanwhile, system-wide revenue rose by 4.7 percent.Liberty did not provided actual revenue for the prepared gained for those returns.
The nation's largest tax store chain, H&R Block, said earlier that its network had prepared 22.2 million returns for the same period, up 4.5 percent from the 2011 season. Jackson Hewitt, the No. 2 tax store company, has not provided statistics about the number of returns its system prepared.
