IRS Sets Webinar on Preparer Regs

IRS logoThe Internal Revenue Service is hosting a Webinar, for federal tax return preparers on March 30, to provide informationon a variety of the new regulatons affecting professional tax preparers. This includes Preparer Tax Identification Number guidelines, plans for upcoming competency testing and continuing education, background checks and electronic filing requirements.

The main presenter is David R. Williams, director, IRS Return Preparer Office, for the session which will begin at 2 pm Eastern Time. Panelists include CPA David Lifson from Crowe Horwath LLP, and Bill Parrish, of Bill Parrish – Private Practice Group. Retired IRS communications manager Mike Quinn will moderate the program.

Viewers can register online. Enrolled agents can receive one CPE credit. and other professionals can meet recruitments depending on their organizations or state CPE requirements.

Bob Scott has provided information to the tax and accounting community since 1991, first as technology editor of Accounting Today, and from 1997 through 2009 as editor of its sister publication, Accounting Technology. He is known throughout the industry for his depth of knowledge and for his high journalistic standards.  Scott has made frequent appearances as a speaker, moderator and panelist and events serving tax and accounting professionals. He  has a strong background in computer journalism as an editor with two former trade publications, Computer+Software News and MIS Week and spent several years with weekly and daily newspapers in Morris County New Jersey prior to that.  A graduate of Indiana University with a degree in journalism, Bob is a native of Madison, Ind
