AbacusNext Names Gohman as CEO

AbacusNext, which makes practice management software, has named Keri Gohman, as CEO. Gohman spent three years as an executive with Xero, two of them as president of Xero North America.

Gohman was most recently a partner at  Bain Capital Ventures, where she was a partner concentrating on the firm’s fintech and B2B SaaS software portfolios. She joined Bain in September 2019 after leaving Xero.

AbacusNext makes practice management software for the legal market, the OfficeTools practice management application for accounting firms and HotDocs.

The company was acquired by Thomas Lee Partners in March 2021 and acquired the Zola Suite, a cloud platform for the legal market, in July. The previous CEO, Scott Johnson, joined the software company in April 2019. His LinkedIn profile shows he left that job in at the time of the Thomas Lee purchase but that he is still on the board of directors.

Johnson replaced Alessandra Lezama, who held the top spot from September 2013 until Johnson came onboard. Her LinkedIn profile reports she grow the business to $95 million in trailing revenue and more than 500 employees.
