Alter was SVP of sales, business development and marketing with SurePayroll from January 2000 through October 2003. Alter was with SurePayroll, which markets Internet-based payroll services, when it was purchased for $115 million in cash by Paychex in February 2011.
Before joining SurePayroll, he was a senior engagement manager with McKinsey & Co. from 1994 through 2000.
