As a standalone company, Refinitiv will continue to focus on providing data and insights, trading platforms, market data infrastructure and open technology platforms. The transaction will essentially reverse Thomson’s merger with Reuters, except that Thomson will maintain control of Reuters News.

David Craig, president of the Financial & Risk unit, will be CEO of Refinitiv. “… we believe that cloud technology will drive speed and agility in the analysis of data and the unearthing of new opportunities,” Craig said in a prepared statement.
