Xero Raises New Zealand Prices

Rod Drury, XeroCloud software vendor Xero has raised prices for its web-based accounting software in New Zealand. The company announced the plan on its blog recently, saying the new rates will go into effect on December 1. However, there are no plans for price increases elsewhere.

In answer to a query, CEO Rod Drury pointed to a company blog as providing the best information about the change.

"In the last eight years, Xero has made massive improvements and added many features, yet we've only increased our prices by $1 per month," the blog stated. The Starter edition price goes from $25 to $27.50 per month; the Standard price for $50 to $55. The premium edition stays at $70 per month. All prices are in New Zealand dollars.

Drury said the company has "had negligible negative feedback as Xero delivers so much value in that market." He emphasized no other countries will be affected. However, the New Zealand business press said that Drury had promised such an increase as the one implemented would not occur while he led the company.
