Intuit Starts Biz Development Team

Madeline Reeves, IntuitIntuit has created a Regional Business Development Team that will works with accountants and ProAdvisors. The program is designed to help practitioners grow their business via the use ofthe company's cloud-based products. The five persons hired initially will educate accountants about cloud applications and provide support and training to help them build a better cloud accounting practice.

The program's emphasis is on building a practice through the use of QuickBooks Online and QuickBooks Online for Accountants.

Intuit did not provide many details, but the titles held by two of the team members suggest there will be an emphasis on larger firms. Todd Robinson and Madeline Reeves both joined the program with the title of business development manager, strategic accounts. A brief survey on the website of the Mountain View, Calif.-based software company also suggests that direction. Practitioners are being asked the number of clients and number of QB Online clients they have "to determine if you qualify for a dedicated Account Specialist."

The other team members are business development managers.
These include Amanda Kuiken, who was a senior account manager with Xero from April 2013 through January 2015 and a senior sales consultant with Paychex from August 2006 through April 2013. Marty French has been with Intuit since 2005 as an accounting and business management software consultant.

Natasha Gorman joined Intuit in March 2014 and was a strategic account manager until August that year. She then became a business development manager as part of the now-expanded program. Gorman was with rival Xero from April 2013 through March 2014 as a senior account manager. Earlier, she worked at Intuit as a senior sales consultant from October 2008 through April 2013.

Todd Robinson joined Intuit in October. He worked at Thomson Reuters starting in January 2005. Robinson was an enterprise product account manager there from 2009 and 2012 and an enterprise account manager from 2007 through 2008, serving large CPA firms. Madeline Reeves was with sales-tax vendor Avalara from June 2013 through January working as an inside sales representative and in the company's accountants partnership program.
