Avalara Links to Maryland, Illinois Societies

Brian Austin, AvalaraAvalara, which makes cloud-based sales-and-use tax products, has entered alliances with the Maryland and Illinois CPA societies. The agreements mean Avalara now has formal relationships with 10 state societies and the company expects more to follow.

"The primary benefit to members is access to Avalara's Accountants Resource Center," says Brian Austin, the company's director of accountant and industry relations. The resources available include whitepapers written by tax experts, webinars conducted by professionals and access to sales tax calculation tools.

There is also access to blogs and sites relevant to sales-and-use tax issues and state and local rates and tax forms. Members of participating CPA societies get unlimited free access to the center.

Other societies that have signed up for the Avalara program include California, Florida, Indiana, Kansas, Maryland, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Virginia and Washington. Avalara also has alliances with several accounting firm associations, most recently The Leading Edge Alliance.
