Intuit Sets Practice Management Release

intuit accountants logoIntuit says its practice management software will have releases that start after tax season. And while the product has been in field tests with about 2,000 firms, its general release is about a year later than the company had planned early in 2011.

The company has not had much to say directly about the web-based Intuit Practice Management, but the website phrasing indicates that name has replaced the original ProLine Practice Management title. About two years ago, Intuit began placing its products under the ProLine brand. But in the last few months, it abandoned that name and has removed it from its tax research and Tax Online products.

According to Intuit's website "Releases for Intuit Practice Management are scheduled to begin after this tax season. Sign up to stay posted on Intuit Practice Management release notifications and updates." However, the website gives that information, as it has for months, under a tab for finding more information about the next phase of its pilot program. The site also says that the application is designed best for firms "that use Lacerte for tax preparation, and QuickBooks for managing internal bookkeeping." A form that for those interested in learning more asks respondents for the name of the "Bookkeeping software used for your firm's accounting."

In December, BigTime, which makes web-based practice management applications, said it was working with Intuit to integrate technology into the Intuit software still under development.
