This shows the world of CPAs has not learned. KPMG is one of the "BIG 4" and their people are allowing the same things that collapsed Arthur Anderson and others. CPA used to mean Integrity, Ethical, Moral, etc competence. I am a CPA and every time I see a "BIG" company in trouble like this the only thing that comes to mind is GREED - Greed - Greed. The need to keep the bottom line up Vs the need to do a competent job seems to be the overwhelming issue anymore. So apparently our collective conscience is not what it used to be. Not all CPAs are like this but just like the used car salesman image affects all used ca salesman every CPA is affected by the actions of a few. When part of that few is a major firm it really makes for a tarnished reputation of all. There are days I find myself ashamed of being a CPA.
